The Hořice-based company Tiyo took first place in the regional round of the 21st annual Company of the Year competition. It prevailed against ten other finalists and advanced to the national finals, which will be held on December 10 at the Žofín Palace in Prague.

This was Tiyo’s first time ever participating in the competition organized by Hospodářské noviny. “Our company has been built on the backs of many great people and projects. We’ve gone through tough times, which we’ve managed to overcome. For me, this is confirmation that it’s all worth it, and I truly wish this award for our employees,” said company co-owner Petr Havlík.

According to him, simply advancing to the regional finals was a success in itself. “This is a recognition for all of our 153 employees, half of whom are college graduates and nearly all of whom live in the Hradec Králové region,” he said.

The winners were selected during a gala evening at the Petrof Gallery in Hradec Králové by a panel of experts composed of representatives from professional unions, associations, and chambers of commerce, regional business leaders, the regional government, the competition organizer, and competition partners.

The panel evaluated financial performance, the companies’ contribution to the region, their business story, future, and employee welfare.

Top-quality products

“Tiyo is a leading Czech - and now global - technology company that has made a significant mark on the world with its products and services. The company is known for the top quality of its products and services and operates in an industry where success depends not only on money but, above all, on know-how,” said Dušan Klimek of Volkswagen, a partner of the competition.

For more than two decades, the Company of the Year and small Business Owner of the Year competitions have been recognizing exceptional entrepreneurs throughout the country.

Regional business rankings are compiled annually by an expert jury consisting of representatives from professional partners such as the Chamber of Commerce, CzechInvest, and the Union of Czech-Moravian Manufacturing Cooperatives, as well as managers of large companies, representatives of regions, the media, and winners from previous years.

According to the organizers, the goal of the competitions is primarily to support small and medium-sized enterprises and to foster the Czech entrepreneurial environment. “This year’s finalists demonstrate just how diverse and strong the entrepreneurial environment is in the regions,” said Gabriela Tomanová, director of the competition.
