The Hořice-based company Tiyo is expanding its range of services to include metallographic testing. The new laboratory focuses on analyzing smaller electronic components, such as printed circuit boards and cables. Thanks to its in-house equipment, the company can respond more quickly to customer requests and reduce the time needed to obtain results.
“We’ve long offered metallography as part of our services, but we didn’t have the necessary equipment and had to outsource the testing,” says Štěpánka Zamouřilová, head of the materials testing team at Tiyo.
The new facility expands the company’s professional and technical capabilities in the field of materials testing. It is equipped with a metallographic grinder and polisher from the French manufacturer Lam Plan, as well as an optical microscope.
This setup allows the company to prepare samples for microscopic evaluation and subsequently examine their structure in greater detail.
The laboratory focuses primarily on smaller electronic components, such as printed circuit boards and their components, connectors, pins, and cable harnesses.
“We’ll be much more flexible now. Having our own laboratory allows us to respond quickly to customer requests and provide them with the data without unnecessary delays,” says Štěpánka Zamouřilová.
Metallographic tests are used in the quality control of materials and products, the evaluation of welds and welded joints, and the analysis of problems arising during production. They allow for a detailed assessment of a material’s structure and the detection of defects or discontinuities that may not be detectable by other testing methods.
