Tiyo tested components for parcel boxes for the first time

The Hořice-based company has partnered with Alfa 3, a leading Czech manufacturer of storage systems.

Tiyo continues to expand its scope beyond the automotive industry. For the first time in history, materials for a new generation of storage boxes manufactured by Alfa 3 in the Pardubice region have appeared in the company’s laboratories. A series of tests examined the chemical, climatic, and corrosion resistance of metal and plastic components.

Alfa 3 is one of the leading Czech manufacturers of industrial metal furniture and systems for logistics and storage. Among other things, it manufactures delivery boxes for major online retailers.

The goal of the testing was to verify the appropriate selection of materials for the new generation of parcel lockers. “The testing focused both on the chemical and corrosion resistance of steel sheet, including the surface treatment used, and on the behavior and resistance of the selected type of plastic under extreme climatic conditions,” said Alfa 3 sales director Jiří Zelený Jr.

The tests at the Hořice laboratory took place in the last quarter of last year. “We tested painted panels in various color options, locker doors, and plastic trim,” explained Tiyo sales manager Michaela Kulhánková Bernkopfová.

According to Jiří Zelený, the testing clearly served its purpose. “The results convinced us that the materials were well-chosen, and we can now proceed with the mass production of parcel lockers,” confirmed Alfa 3’s sales director.

He also praised the high quality of the deliverables in the form of well-prepared test reports. “We decided to collaborate with Tiyo primarily based on a personal visit and our overall impression of the company, which we view as a highly professional and competent partner in the field of testing.”

The collaboration between Tiyo and Alfa 3 continues this year with the testing of additional components for storage boxes.
