The theme and date have been announced for the 18th annual Automotive Research and Development (VVA) Seminar, organized by Tiyo. This year’s event will be dedicated to battery testing. It will take place on November 12 at the Tree of Life hotel resort in Lázně Bělohrad. More than a hundred developers, experts, and students are expected to attend.
The Hořice laboratory is a leader in the Czech Republic specifically in battery testing. This segment has been developing very dynamically here in recent years.
“It is a field with applications across a wide range of industries, not only in the automotive sector, but also in aviation, space technology, and the production of cordless tools. We believe that sufficient attention must be paid to the developments taking place at the battery cell level,” says Tiya co-owner Petr Havlík.
The VVA seminar will be an opportunity to share the experience Tiyo’s experts have gained in battery testing. As in previous years, the number of participants will be limited to 120. “We make sure there is plenty of room for discussion, whether after individual presentations or in the lobby during breaks. We don’t want to increase the number of participants; it would be at the expense of the comfort and quality of the event,” explains Petr Havlík.
The conference traditionally attracts significant interest among industry professionals. Last year, we achieved full capacity. The organizers expect similar attendance this year as well. The seminar will include a guided tour of the Hořice laboratory, complete with a workshop.
“We will show visitors the unique facilities we have here for battery testing, including equipment for the most technically demanding and dangerous tests of uncontrolled battery reactions,” says Tiyo’s co-owner. The program will also include demonstrations of tests in climate chambers and vibration systems.
Tiyo began its first battery cell tests in 2020. Over the course of six years, the company has evolved from a controlled power source used for initial simple tests to a state-of-the-art “battery town” with several specialized containers.
The Hořice-based company has applied and expanded its many years of experience in testing components for the automotive industry to the field of battery testing. Various types of stress tests are most commonly performed, particularly mechanical damage tests and short-circuit tests.
Last year’s seminar was dedicated to electronics testing. It was attended by more than a hundred experts from development centers, technicians from testing laboratories, students, and enthusiasts. The event included a workshop focused on electromagnetic compatibility testing at the Tiyo laboratory.
The VVA seminar was established in 2008, with the first three editions held in Hradec Králové. In 2011, it moved to a hotel resort in Lázně Bělohrad. From the very beginning, participants have included Tiyo customers, representatives of other development companies, and members of the academic community.
Speakers often include experts from other industries. In the past, for example, artist David Černý has participated in the seminar. The event is known in professional circles for its focus on specific development projects and technological solutions.
