The X-Wings shaker opens up new possibilities in testing

Tiyo is the first company in the Czech Republic to acquire a state-of-the-art vibration system from Acutronic. This enables it to meet the market’s most demanding requirements.

Tiyo’s vibration laboratory tests the mechanical properties of parts on the new X-Wings shaker from the Swiss company Acutronic. With a force of 60 kilonewtons, it is the most powerful vibration system in the testing laboratory. It allows for testing even larger and heavier components.

Of the eight electrodynamic shakers available to the laboratory, this is the most powerful model. Within Central Europe, it represents a solution at the very top of the technological league. “This will allow us to expand our testing portfolio. The new shaker is significantly more robust, equipped with smart technologies, and also more energy-efficient,” explains Lubomír Vích, head of the mechatronics group.

Like other vibration systems, the Acutronic is air-cooled; however, thanks to temperature sensors, it can regulate fan speed according to current needs, thereby saving electricity. It can vibrate at a frequency of up to three thousand oscillations per second.

This powerful shaker opens up new possibilities in component testing, not only in the automotive sector but also in the aerospace and defense segments. “It can handle higher acceleration with heavier loads. This allows us to test significantly heavier parts than before, such as turbochargers, transmissions, batteries, or compressors,” says Lubomír Vích.

Thanks to its robust upper and lower guides, the vibration system allows for testing equipment weighing up to 600 kilograms. A motor-driven swivel mechanism enables easy transition from a vertical to a horizontal position. Thanks to advanced software, the shaker can be controlled remotely.

A special monitoring system analyzes operational data and predicts the technical condition of the equipment. In practice, this means higher operational reliability, better service planning, and minimization of unplanned downtime.

Extreme dryness and tropical climates

The vibration climate chamber features a test chamber with a volume of 1,700 liters and allows operation within a temperature range of minus 70 to plus 180 degrees. Equipped with humidity control, it simulates environments ranging from extremely dry conditions to tropical climates.

Technicians installed the device, which weighs several tons, at the beginning of this year and conducted the first live tests in February. The equipment has been fully operational since March. “In addition to vibrations, the shaker can also generate mechanical shocks simulating a sudden impact, with an overload of more than 150G,” adds Lubomír Vích.

Tiyo is the first laboratory in the Czech Republic to acquire an X-Wings shaker from Acutronic. It has also become a reference site for the Swiss technology company. “As a leading player in the field of environmental simulation, we were looking for the best partner in the growing Eastern European development and manufacturing hub in the Czech Republic,” explains Aleksandar Granulic, CEO of Acutronic Simulation & Test International.

“Thanks to Tiyo, we were able to find a state-of-the-art testing center with an unrivaled range of services and a testing laboratory that we at Acutronic would call Swiss perfection,” says Granulic, praising the establishment of a strategic partnership with the Hořice-based company. Tiyo purchased the vibration system from Kaitrade, which is Acutronic’s dealer in the Czech Republic.
